ENGLISH FOR AGE 7 - 12

YOUNG LEARNERS ENGLISH

In today's world, learning English is a vital skill that will help your children achieve their full potential in later life. The sooner they start learning, the better with the right method, children can learn English quickly and find it more enjoyable. At Cambridge ELEES we believe that learning should not be stressful for children, it should be fun and stimulating. Their studies should make reading, listening and speaking in English come naturally. As their confidence develops, they will want to learn more and use English to a more challenging level. An important part of developing that confidence is the support and encouragement you give as a parent - remember, your children need to practice their English as much as possible, including at home. Children who learn English when they are young will have an advantage that will stay with them all their life.

Cambridge ELEES as the preparation school for the authorised centre of Cambridge Assessment English recognises this and has developed a special system of tests designed to get children of primary school age and upwards on the path to learning English. Young Learners English (YLE) is a reliable and consistent measure of how well your child is doing in the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. We prepare the children for academic excellence and beyond. They will expose to inspiring stories related to the levels through fun and fascinating information about the real world. They will improve their language abilities progressively in a friendly and cooperative environment that builds their confidence in English competency.

The programme gears to a series of tests from Cambridge Assessment English. The tests are designed to make learning fun and children are encouraged by working towards certificates and earning the 'shields' that record their progress. There are three levels for children to work through, Pre A1 Starters, A1 Movers and A2 Flyers with Pre A1 Starters being the first, aimed at young children aged 7 -12 with very basic skills. Children are advised to first take a placement test to determine which course is appropriate to their level of English language proficiency.
